Giving Back to Entrepreneurs: FocalPoint's Newest Business Coach

Updated: Jul 24, 2023

We are excited to announce the newest owner of FocalPoint Business Coaching: Cary Shields. Cary and his wife, Cheri, are prior business owners who came to FranCoach looking for their next venture – and now, they’ve found it.

Who Is Cary Shields?

While he holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville, Cary knows that his most valuable experience comes from owning his own company – and then selling that company, which also gave him insight into reorganization, accounting, and more. Here’s what Cary has to say about being a business owner:

“Running my own business permanently changed me. Self-reliance is what I like the most.”

With a diverse skill set and a broad range of experience, Cary is ready to take on business ownership once again. He is excited to continue investing in his financial future, for both his own benefit and that of his family.

Why Did Cary Make a Career Change?

After selling his company, Cary wanted to get back into the world of self-employment. Having already experienced the benefits of being his own boss, Cary didn’t want a 9-5 job – but he also didn’t want to start from scratch again.

Cary is a musician, so he wanted the flexibility to take gigs when they came along. The lifestyle and flexibility component of being his own boss was huge, and he wasn’t willing to compromise when it came to living life on his terms.

That’s when Cary discovered FranCoach through the Franchising 101 Podcast, which is focused on keeping listeners informed on all things franchising and helping individuals discover whether or not franchise ownership is right for them. He sees franchising as a chance to work for himself again while benefiting from the proven plan of a tried-and-true business model.

Why Will Cary Make a Great Franchise Owner?

Tim Parmeter, founder and CEO of FranCoach (and Cary’s coach while he was working with us), commented that Cary will be fantastic with FocalPoint for a number of different reasons:

“He has experience as a business owner, so he knows the struggles that entrepreneurs can go through. He’s very relatable. He’s going to be able to build great relationships and trust with all of his clients. And with franchising in general, he’s smart enough to follow the highly proven system that FocalPoint offers.”

Why Did Cary Choose FocalPoint?

FocalPoint Business Coaching harnesses the very best of founder Brian Tracy’s entrepreneurial and professional development learnings and strategies. FocalPoint coaches work with business owners, leaders, and their teams to effectively leverage these business-building tools, systems, and methodologies for maximum benefit.

When Cary first came to us at FranCoach, he was looking at a number of different industries. But he quickly fell in love with all that FocalPoint has to offer, especially its fantastic lifestyle component. FocalPoint will truly give Cary the flexibility he wants, plus afford him the opportunity to help other business owners who are struggling or not quite hitting their goals.

As a former business owner himself, Cary understands how lonely entrepreneurship can be when you’ve started something from scratch. He’s excited to give back to his community and help other go-getters like himself succeed.

Please join our team at FranCoach in congratulating Cary Shields and wishing him luck as a new owner of FocalPoint Business Coaching.
